Your reward when you dine at the Trophy Room at the Old Kinderhook Resort starts when you enter the property. At the heart of this 700-acre resort in the rolling hills of Lake of the Ozarks, the Trophy Room Restaurant has been serving up outstanding food and drink to visitors in Mid-Missouri for years.
The Trophy Room stands in the middle of the resort along with the 84-room Lodge, Spa, the Golf Pro Shop, and the 18th hole of the gorgeous golf course. With a large wraparound back porch, diners can enjoy indoor or outdoor seating in a beautiful, comfortable setting.
Location: 678 Old Kinderhook Drive, Camdenton, Missouri.
Conveniently located just a couple of miles off Highway 54, Old Kinderhook is nestled in a beautiful valley surrounded by the picturesque hills and trees of Lake of the Ozarks, smack dab in the middle of Missouri.
Menu: Whether it’s the 8-ounce Center Cut Filet or tasty seafood like the Pan Seared Sea Bass, Executive Chef Andy Raynor and his team at the Trophy Room do it right. They are also known for their special Cajun Shrimp and Grits as well as a nice selection of burgers and sandwiches.
Also, check out their weekly specials, like the Blackened Mahi Mahi with Sun-Dried Tomato, Spinach Orzo, Asparagus, and Jalapeno & Pineapple Salsa. Or maybe the Grilled New York Strip with Wild Mushroom White Wine Cream Sauce, Haricot Verts, and Baked Potato would be your choice.
The Trophy Room offers a nice selection of wines, beer, Martinis, and Cocktails. For dessert, try the Vanilla Crème Brule, the Devil’s Chocolate Cake, or the Chef’s Feature Dessert.
Thoughts: We were at Old Kinderhook in Mid-March, right in between the cold of winter and the warmth of Spring. The dual-purpose ice rink/volleyball court was still iced over from a winter of inviting guests to skate on the only outdoor skating rink in the area. In a few weeks, after the ice has melted, active guests can join in on a spirited game of volleyball.
The evening we came was a bit chilly outside, so the hostess escorted us to a warm inside table that still had a wonderful view of the golf course, the hills, and a glowing fire on the outdoor patio. I can imagine the patio would also be a great place to eat and enjoy a cocktail in warmer weather. That evening, it was quiet and romantic, just right for an enjoyable evening with that special someone.
We chatted with the waiter, had a glass of wine, and felt totally relaxed in the warm ambiance of the Trophy Room. We felt in no rush, and genuinely enjoyed our waiting time, soaking in the whole experience. Our dinner and drinks took about two hours, and we relished each minute.
My wife had the Salmon Oscar, a tender filet served with Asparagus, Jumbo Lump Crab, and a delicious Bernaise Sauce. I opted for the 8 ounce Center Cut Filet, tasty till the last bite. Both dishes were warm and cooked just right, adding to our already wonderful evening.
Join the Trophy Room for live music every Friday and Saturday night in the bar area. After a round of golf or a day of cruising around Lake of the Ozarks, it’s the perfect place to unwind with some drinks and great music.
One of the great things about The Trophy Room is that you do not have to be a member or guest of Old Kinderhook to dine there. It is open to the public year around. With its scenic location in the Ozarks, The Trophy Room is great for a casual lunch or dinner, or romantic fine dining experience.
Prices: Snacks like the Kinderhook Wings and Eggplant Fries are $12-15. Entrees are in the $20-40 range. Sandwiches and burgers with sides run $12-16.
See why Golf Magazine calls Old Kinderhook the #2 golf course in Missouri, and enjoy the great food and atmosphere at the equally impressive Trophy Room.
